Nope, the only way right now to do that is to buy the package from nextel. Right now there is no software out to make it possible without it.

there is a way. if you have a dail up account. just connect the phone, and it should dail on its own. or if you know the number that a isp uses, the phone will be able to do the same.

let me warn you, its slow as all hell and it waste minutes

I have a Free Incoming Plus plan w/ the net and all you have to do is call customer care and tell them that you want them to activate a data line on your phone (no extra cost) because you want to be able to dial up to the internet. Sure it is not the fastest, come on it is still dial-up, but when you are on the road, it is better than nothing

Oh yeah, it takes your reguler plan minutes but after 9 and on the weekends it is free.

Havnt used it that much yet so I dont know about using phone or DC while connected to the net but will post when I know.

Ok just tested, no phone or DC or any menu options when in Data Call.

Hope this helps.

Although we all love to give our input and provide information on this site, it is of the utmost importance that the information we provide is true and factual. So, I have taken the time to research this important topic and get the "real deal" on it. I have quoted the inconsistencies in my post:

I saw that the thread was closed...which is okay. But, then I saw these two posts:

http://www.djjeffa.com/vb/showpost....551&postcount=9 (http://www.djjeffa.com/vb/showpost.php?p=15551&postcount=9)

Which both of these have bad information such as:

This is bad information. Here is what I found:

Nextel does provide a data link package to Nextel subscribers w/ Net. They offer two different packages:

(1) MB -or- (5) MB

These packages ARE NOT free to the subscriber. The subscriber can be charged up to $49.99 per month in addition to the monthly rate service package.

This cannot be avoided and there is no way around this. Phone calls and DC is not available during the data link mode. It is also recommended that during data link use that call waiting is turned off to avoid interruption. If the subscriber uses the data link to the wireless net, he/she is still billed at the appropriate rate unless it is used between the hours of 9pm to 7am (nights) or Fridays from 9pm to Monday 7am (weekends) if their plan offers free nights and weekends.

Whew....that was almost like giving birth. Did a lot of research into this and went through about 3 NEXTEL Authorized Dealers and 4 NEXTEL Customer Service Agents to get a straight answer.

Anyway, I know that this may not be a concern. But, I believe that we owe it to our members to make sure we provide them with true and factual information on our site. This way, the word spreads that we are "the real deal".

Feedback is appreciated.

Thanx,

Global
